I'm an arts management worker/ artist/ designer. I work at Accessible Arts in administration and bookkeeping, but also work on various freelance activities from photography to graphic design. I'm Associate Partner at the ARI, the Big Fag Press, board member of Runway Australian Experimental Art and occasionally work at Bailey and Yang Consultants. My creative work has often been driven by social issues and commentary. This blog started as a way of documenting research for my honours year at uni, which I have continued, in order to gather inspiration for future artistic practice.

Dove vs Greenpeace

It's not many people who haven't seen a few of these ads around promoting the idea that beauty can come in all shapes, sizes, colours, ages, etc. I think it's a message that was well overdue and Dove did a beautiful job in pulling it off. I hope it made a difference.

Interestingly, Greenpeace took elements from Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty and used it to expose the Deforestation in Indonesia which Dove used to contribute to by using Palm Oil in its products. As far as I know, since the Greenpeace Ad, Dove has significantly changed its ingredients or methods to minimise its damage to the planet.
